We confess that we have closed our door when you have called us to swing it wide. We have left when you asked us to stay, and stayed when you bid us to go.
I'm so glad you found your way to my little corner of the neighborhood! Pull up a chair and stay, and let's chat about life on the margins and loving Jesus and, obviously, where to find the best cheese dip and most life-changing books.
All in prayer
We confess that we have closed our door when you have called us to swing it wide. We have left when you asked us to stay, and stayed when you bid us to go.
Forgive us Lord for turning back to our chains. For believing the enemy’s lies and for allowing ourselves to be more shaped by the ways of the world than we are by your grace.
When we are weary, Lord, remind us to rest in you. When we are afraid, help us remember to cast our anxieties on you . . .
We confess that as the world turns slow in its arc around the sun, so too we are slow to turn from sin towards you. Help us, Father, to reflect your love and hope to a world in desperate need of light. We want to be the moon, steadfast in our own orbit reflecting you.
The news and our twitter feed can feel overwhelming these days, leaving us helpless to know just what to do in the face of so much pain. In the meantime, I am focusing on practicing the spiritual discipline of prayer, particularly lament. . . .
